Distracted Driving Toolkit

This website is a part of Washington State Traffic Safety Commission’s efforts to reduce distracted driving at the workplace. It’s designed to guide employers whose employees drive for work through a 4-step process on developing a culture of safety in the workplace and a distracted driving policy.

The original content, provided by the University of Montana consisted of website copy, survey questions, statistics, teaching plan, work activities, email examples, distracted driving policy examples and additional information on each step of the way. The challenge laid in transforming that material into smaller, more digestible sections for the web. I drew inspiration from the TurboTax website, which simplifies a complex and often stressful task—filing taxes—by breaking it down into user-friendly steps. Similarly, the goal here was to create a streamlined, approachable experience that makes important safety information easy to understand and apply.
